What is RoHS?

RoHS-Restriction of Hazardous Substances- is “the restriction of hazardous use of electrical or electric equipment.” The European Union (EU) started to use RoHS effectively after July 1, 2006. The harmful substances include lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers. All manufactures and resellers selling electric and electrical equipment must be RoHS compliant if the product sells under their own brand in the EU.

 

What is UL?

UL is an independent, not-for-profit product-safety testing and certification organization. They offer a, "Performance Verification Services," program for performance Category 2, 3, 4, 5, 5E or 6, TIA/EIA 568B.2-1, ISO/IEC 11801 performance categories, Optical Fiber Cable Performance Verification, field testers, and much more. UL also provides CAT 6 permanent link and channel performance testing. This service is specifically geared towards system designers, installers, contractors and end-users. UL performs field measurements in accordance to TIA/EIA 568B2.

REACH

The European Union’s REACH Directive (EC 1907/2006) is established to regulate the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical Substances. Cablesys supports REACH regulations by contacted suppliers to confirm all components do meet REACH by the deadlines.
